Role: Learning Support Assistant
Location: West Yorkshire
Type: Temporary - Full Time & Part Time
Rate: £16 - £18 per hour
Eden Brown are seeking 2 experienced Learning Support Assistants for a Further Education College in West Yorkshire to join their Supported Learning provision.
There are 2 roles available:
1 - 30 hours per week supporting SEND team
2 - 2 days per week, Mon & Tues 9 - 1 supporting Visually impaired student (must have experience with this)
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people and adults with learning difficulties, disabilities, sensory impairments, and additional needs, helping them to fully engage in college life and achieve their potential.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with tutors and support staff to provide day-to-day support for learners both in and out of the classroom. You will play a key role in promoting independence, confidence, and inclusion, while ensuring learners feel safe, respected, and supported at all times.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing individual and group learning support under the direction of teaching staff
- Supporting learners with personal care needs, including intimate care, moving and handling, and mobility support, in line with individual risk assessments
- Assisting learners with literacy, numeracy, IT, and portfolio or evidence building
- Supporting emotional, social, and behavioural development
- Monitoring learner progress, attendance, and learning targets, and contributing to reviews
- Supporting access to college facilities, lessons, and work placements, including escorting learners where required
- Assisting with preparation of learning materials and resources
- Working proactively to maintain health, safety, and safeguarding standards

This role may involve working across different college sites and during unsociable hours where required.
About You
- We are keen to hear from candidates who have:
- Experience working with individuals with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
- Experience supporting learners who may present behavioural or emotional challenges
- Recent experience within an educational or similar support setting
- A friendly, patient, and non-judgemental approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Qualifications (Essential / Desirable)
- Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy (essential)
- Moving & Handling training (or willingness to work towards)
- Disability Awareness training

A relevant Learning Support qualification, BSL, or First Aid certification (desirable)
Candidates must have a current Child & Adult DBS
