Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Mainstream Secondary School
Location: Oldham
Contract: Full-time, long-term (Monday-Friday, term time only)
We are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work in a mainstream secondary school, supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 who require additional help to access the curriculum. This is a classroom-based role, ideal for someone with strong secondary experience who can support both learning and behaviour.
Requirements (must-have):
Recent experience working with secondary-aged pupils (11-16) in a UK school
Confident supporting in-class alongside the teacher and working with small groups
Experience supporting pupils with mild to moderate SEND or additional learning needs
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff
Able to commit to a full-time, long-term role (Monday-Friday, term time)
Desirable:
Level 2/3 TA/LSA qualification or a related degree
Experience with EHCPs, intervention work or targeted academic/behaviour support
Familiarity with strategies for ASD, ADHD, SEMH or specific learning difficulties
Key responsibilities:
Providing in-class support to identified pupils in KS3/KS4 lessons
Delivering or supporting small-group and 1:1 interventions as directed by the SENCo/class teacher
Helping pupils stay focused, organised and engaged with their learning
Supporting the implementation of personalised learning plans and recording progress
