Main Purpose of the Role
To lead, support and develop warehouse colleagues to achieve safe, efficient and accurate shift operations. You will champion high standards, drive continuous improvement and ensure your team delivers exceptional service in line with PJH operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, coach and motivate colleagues to create a positive, high-engagement team environment.
Allocate daily workloads and deploy resources effectively to meet productivity and service targets.
Promote and embed a culture of continuous improvement across all warehouse processes.
Partner with Learning & Development to identify skills gaps and support colleague development.
Monitor and review individual performance, providing feedback, coaching and formal support where required.
Lead improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency and customer experience.
Conduct investigations, disciplinary meetings and performance-related discussions professionally and in line with policy.
Manage attendance, sickness and return-to-work processes consistently and fairly.
Maintain exceptional housekeeping standards and ensure safe working practices across all areas.
Champion a proactive health and safety culture: “Think Safe, Work Safe, Be Safe".
Communicate business updates clearly to ensure team alignment with operational goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support end-to-end operational success.
Carry out any additional duties as required by the business.
Nature & Scope:
People Responsibility: Supervision of a direct warehouse team (size dependent on shift structure).
Performance Responsibility: Delivering operational KPIs including productivity, accuracy, quality and safety.
Authority Limits: Operates within defined operational policies and procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
Effective communicator with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure.
Resilient, adaptable and solutions focused.
Experience working in a fast-paced FMCG or warehouse environment.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
RTITB-accredited licences (FLT, PPT, etc.).
Supervisory experience within a warehouse or distribution operation.
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
Exposure to transport operations.
NVQ Level 3 in Management or equivalent.
Lean Six Sigma knowledge or experience.
