Working hours per week:Monday - Friday 07:00 -15:30. 40hr/week

Apprenticeship Link: Horticulture or landscape construction operative / Skills England
As part of your apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto the Horticulture or Landscape Construction Operative Level 2 programme, which will take approximately 27 months to complete. You will be fully supported by our partnered college with 1-2-1 guidance, e-learning materials and access to technical experts across the team.

We are improving and maintaining 1,180 miles of road, 2,050 miles of pavement, 68,000 streetlights, 36,000 highway trees, 28,000 street signs, 72,000 drainage gullies, 480 traffic signals, 18,000 items of street furniture, 2.9 million sqm of grass verges and over 600 bridges and highway structures.
What you will do:
As a Grounds Maintenance Apprentice, you will be fully involved at the operational level, helping to drive change to ensure we meet Amey Group and client goals, making our highways activities future-proof.
From day one, you will be given real responsibility and gain invaluable experience alongside industry experts. You will support the team in delivering:
Storm clearance.
Tree planting and young-tree maintenance.
Operation and maintenance of light plant and power tools.
Pesticide / herbicide spraying.
Propagation duties.
Composting / waste management.
Maintenance of ornamental grass.
Identification of plants, including scientific names.
Understanding biodiversity and invasive-species legislation.
Establishing and maintaining soft landscaping (perennial and annual plants).
Any other duties reasonably required. What you will bring:
If you do not hold GCSE/Functional Skills qualifications, you must achieve a minimum of Entry Level 3 in Maths and English during initial assessment.
Full UK driving licence.
Basic knowledge of gardening and horticultural operations.
Good oral communication with an ability to present ideas clearly.
Passion for developing both professional and personal skills.
