About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate, skilled Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to support pupils across Blackburn and Darwen. This full-time role is based within school settings, working with children who experience emotional, behavioural, social, or wellbeing-related challenges.
You will help pupils develop resilience, emotional regulation, confidence, and positive relationships through structured, evidence-backed ELSA interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 and group sessions supporting emotional literacy
Help pupils manage anxiety, low confidence, bereavement, anger, friendships, and emotional regulation
Work under the supervision of Educational Psychologists (core to ELSA practice)
Build trusting, supportive relationships with pupils
Work closely with classroom staff, SEND teams, and families
Track progress and contribute to wider wellbeing strategies in school
Requirements (Must-Have)
Experience working with children or young people
Warm, patient, and emotionally supportive nature
Willingness to work full-time in a school environment
ELSA training (or willingness to complete accredited training)
Good understanding of safeguarding and child wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
