Finance Assistant
Location: Stroud
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Salary: Circa £28,000 + benefits
Type: Permanent, full-time
Our client, a well-established and values-driven charity based in Stroud, has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join their team. This role has arisen due to continued growth and increased financial reporting requirements. The position is fully office-based, and experience with cloud-based accounting software is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Manage purchase and sales ledgers, including supplier reconciliations and monitoring outstanding invoices
Process and reconcile bank receipts, payments, and monthly bank accounts
Prepare bank payment runs and account for payroll, expenses, and petty cash
Support month-end close through accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with VAT workings, Gift Aid reporting, and audit preparation
Ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in bookkeeping or transactional finance roles
Strong experience in purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations
Experience in carrying out key monthly balance sheet reconciliations as part of month-end processes
Ability to work accurately at pace and meet month-end deadlines
Excellent attention to detail with a methodical, organised approach
Strong Microsoft Office skills
