Seymour John are proud to be partnering with a well‑established business based in Shrewsbury to recruit a conscientious and solutions‑focused Accounts Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to join a supportive finance team in a varied role offering both autonomy and collaboration.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Accounts Manager, you will play a key part in the day‑to‑day finance operations while providing ad‑hoc support to other areas of the business as needed.
This is an onsite role, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
Key Responsibilities

Coding and inputting invoices/credit notes

Reconciling supplier statements, including manufacturers

Preparing payment runs

Resolving supplier queries

Posting bank transactions daily

Providing cover for VISA reconciliations and postings

Preparing and posting journals

Accruals
-
Balance sheet reconciliations
-
Assisting with month‑end processes
-
Supporting wider business needs as required
Key Requirements

Excellent communication skills, both face‑to‑face and over the phone

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload

Able to work under pressure and meet monthly deadlines

Good Excel skills

Previous experience in a finance or Accounts Assistant role

Solid understanding of general accounting principles and ledgers

Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills

Confident working independently and collaboratively

Proficient in Excel and accounting/finance systems
