Cleaner and Maintenance Operative
Commercial Vehicle Dealership and Workshop Environment
Location: Burton
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Working Pattern: 08.00 to 17.00, inclusive of a 60 minute unpaid break
Rate: £13 per hour
Role Overview
This role sits within a busy commercial vehicle dealership and workshop, supporting both office-based teams and workshop operations. The position is suited to an organised and proactive individual who takes pride in maintaining high standards across a varied and practical working environment. You will play a key part in ensuring the site remains clean, safe, well presented, and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Housekeeping
· Maintain a high standard of cleanliness across offices, workshops, toilets, canteens, and communal areas.
· Clean and maintain workshop inspection pits to ensure safe and efficient use.
· Empty workshop bins and dispose of waste correctly.
· Replace towels and consumables in welfare facilities.
· Respond promptly to spillages to maintain safety standards.
· Keep external areas including the yard and car park clean, tidy, and hazard free.
Site Maintenance
· Carry out basic maintenance tasks such as painting walls and line marking.
· Repair fencing and carry out minor site repairs as required.
· Monitor the general condition of the site and proactively report or resolve issues.
· Support the upkeep of equipment and facilities to present a professional image at all times.
Health and Safety
· Work in full compliance with health and safety regulations.
· Correctly use personal protective equipment and follow safe systems of work.
· Handle cleaning products, oils, and chemicals safely with full awareness of COSHH requirements.
· Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for colleagues and visitors.
Additional Duties
· Operate a forklift truck where licensed and required.
· Support ad hoc operational tasks as needed within the depot environment.
Skills and Experience
· Ability to organise workload independently and manage time effectively.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational setting.
· Practical problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
· Flexible attitude and willingness to undertake a wide range of duties.
· Strong awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements.
· Clean and valid driving licence.
· Forklift licence desirable but not essential.
