Job Title: Student Support Assistant
Location: Mitcham, SW London
Salary: £90-£95 per day (depending on experience)
Full-time Monday to Friday, 8.15am-3.15pm
ANZUK is working with a wonderful school in Mitcham, London, a special needs school that employs various support staff, including Learning Support Assistants and a Family Support Worker, to help students aged 4-19 with a range of learning difficulties.
Role at the School:
Student support roles at the school are generally known as Learning Support Assistants (LSA). Their responsibilities, based on typical roles at the school and similar institutions, can include:
Academic Support: Assisting the class teacher, providing small group or one-on-one interventions (e.g., in literacy, phonics, and numeracy), and helping pupils access learning to the best of their ability.
Pastoral and Social Development: Supporting students' social and emotional development, fostering a stable learning environment, and helping them develop independence and communication skills.
Specialist Support: Working with students who have various needs, including Autism and ADHD, and potentially assisting with personal care, administering medication, and aiding mobility where required.
Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals, such as speech and language therapists or occupational therapists.
