Thomas Professional are currently working with a leading manufacturing company who are looking to expand their team by taking on a Machine/ Production Operative in Rumney Cardiff.
Shift Pattern
3 Shift - Monday to Friday
Week 1: 6am – 2pm
Week 2: 2pm to 10pm
Week 3: 10pm – 6am
Shift allowance is 10% for afternoon shifts, and 30% for nights.
There are multiple roles available with various shift patterns
Plenty of overtime available.
You will be responsible for setting and operating machinery, ensuring products are produced to a high standard, quality checking all products you have produced. You will manage speeds and feeds of materials, carrying out changeovers on machinery and ensuring you follow health and safety guidelines.
Machine Operative Benefits:
· Salary: Basic hourly rate £12.72p/h, Afternoons £14.00p/h Nights £16.54p/h – Average pay: £14.42 per hour
Rates of pay will increase with experience, there are 4 pay levels for this role and plenty of progression routes to supervisory positions and other internal departments
Yearly bonus up to 10% of annual salary based on company performance
Monday to Friday shifts, no weekends, but weekend overtime is available
Permanent, stable role within a growing organisation during an exciting period of expansion
32 days holiday including bank hols – 2 days to be saved per year to have a 2 week Christmas shutdown
Death in Service scheme
Pension, 4% employee + 5% employer

Machine Operative Duties:
Setting and operating machinery
Work to technical drawings with the minimal supervision
Produce products to the highest standards - output and quality
Carry out changeovers on machines
Manage speeds and feeds
Inspection/gauging of machined components
Compliance with all EH&S and company procedures
Machine Operative Essential Experience:
Experience within a Production/ Machine Operator position in an engineering or manufacturing environment
Ability to carrying out complete and partial changeovers
Understanding of speeds and feeds based on materials; controls; programming; safety and tooling
Able to communicate at all levels and work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to work on multiple tasks and to tight deadlines
Ability to achieve production and quality targets
Positive and flexible can-do attitude
