Our client is an inland barge operator, transporting cargo via the UK’s inland waterways and supporting efficient, sustainable freight movement.
The Role – Port Operative / Stevedore
A stevedore is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of cargo from vessels. This role involves the physical movement of goods between the vessel and the quayside, ensuring operations run smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities:

Loading and unloading construction materials

Operating plant and machinery, including forklifts, cranes, and reach stackers

Securing cargo safely in the vessel’s hold or on the quayside

Working as part of a team to ensure efficient vessel turnaround

Adhering to strict health and safety procedures at all times
