Our client, a highly regarded specialist law firm recognised by both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, is seeking an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join its team in London.

The Role
You will primarily advise on Mental Capacity Welfare matters within the Court of Protection, alongside related Community Care and Judicial Review work where appropriate. The position involves working with vulnerable clients and their families, as well as professionals and public bodies, delivering high-quality legal advice in complex and sensitive matters.
• Managing Mental Capacity Welfare cases in the Court of Protection from instruction to conclusion
• Advising clients on health and welfare decisions, best interests, deprivation of liberty and related issues
• Conducting Community Care and Judicial Review matters linked to mental capacity issues
• Providing pragmatic, legally robust advice to vulnerable clients and their representatives
• Drafting pleadings, statements, and legal submissions
• Liaising with the Official Solicitor, local authorities, healthcare providers, and other professionals
• Maintaining files and case management in line with Lexcel and firm procedures
• Ensuring compliance with SRA standards, Legal Aid Agency regulations, and internal policies
• Assisting with supervision, mentoring, and technical guidance of junior team members
Skills and Experience
• Qualified Solicitor or FILEX with at least 6 years’ PQE in Mental Capacity law
• Strong experience handling Health and Welfare cases in the Court of Protection
• Excellent working knowledge of Mental Capacity Law and Practice
• Good working knowledge of Mental Health Law, Community Care law, and Judicial Review
• Experience working with legally aided matters and familiarity with LAA requirements
• Member of the Law Society Mental Capacity (Welfare) Accreditation Scheme, or working towards accreditation
• Confident communicator with excellent client care skills
• Ability to manage complex cases and competing court deadlines effectively
