Assistant Estimator – Main Contractor (Construction)

About the Company
Our client is a well-established and growing nationwide fit-out principal contractor, specialising in both internal and external build solutions. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects, they are now seeking an Assistant Estimator to support their busy estimating team.
The Role
As an Assistant Estimator, you’ll work closely within a team of five, reporting to the Estimating Manager. This is primarily an office-based role, with opportunities to attend site visits and surveys across the UK. You’ll assist in compiling accurate costings, managing supply chain packages, and supporting senior estimators in delivering tenders on time.
Key Responsibilities

Support senior estimators with tender preparation and submissions

Assist in compiling scopes of work from client briefs and documentation

Help identify risks and opportunities within each tender

Issue packages to sub-contractors and track responses

Assist in setting timelines for contractor returns

Contribute to compiling true cost estimates across multiple sectors

Provide clear handovers to commercial and operational stakeholders

Gain exposure to site surveys and client meetings nationwide
Desired Skills & Experience

Some experience in estimating or construction (main contractor background preferred)

Knowledge of take-offs and measurement

Ability to create and manage work packages for supply chain costings

Construction industry qualification and/or site/trade experience desirable

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks

Good communication and presentation skills

Commercial awareness and attention to detail

Experience with estimating software (Causeway preferred, training available)

Proficiency in Excel (training available)

Full driving licence preferred
