About the Role
Total Staff are recruiting for a Multi-Trade Maintenance Operative (Electrical Bias) to join a flagship cluster of student accommodation properties across the Whitechapel and Farringdon areas.
This is a key role in a high-performing facilities team - ideal for someone with strong electrical skills who is confident working across a variety of building maintenance tasks. You'll support five modern PBSA buildings, ensuring they remain safe, compliant, and well-maintained, while delivering a high standard of service to residents and staff.
We're looking for someone who is technically capable, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently across multiple buildings.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Maintenance
Carry out electrical repairs, fault-finding, and testing across student accommodation buildings
Diagnose and repair issues involving lighting, power, small power circuits, isolators, and control equipment
Complete planned preventative electrical maintenance in line with compliance standards
Support periodic testing and statutory checks where requiredMulti-Trade & General Maintenance
Complete day-to-day maintenance tasks across plumbing, basic carpentry, and general building fabric
Assist with repairs to fixtures, fittings, door furniture, appliances, and communal areas
Support room inspections, snagging and turnaround works (January + Summer periods)
Respond to reactive maintenance requests logged via PDA/CAFM systemsCompliance & Safety
Ensure all works are carried out safely and in line with company procedures
Maintain accurate maintenance records and update job tickets
Carry out routine plant checks and support statutory compliance works
Escalate high-risk issues and support contractors on-siteCluster Support
Work across five nearby properties, providing a shared maintenance resource
Engage professionally with students, staff, and stakeholders
Assist the Facilities Team Leader with workload planning during busy periodsIdeal Candidate
NVQ Level 2 (or above) in Electrical Installation / Electrical Maintenance (essential)
Additional trade skills (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, decorating, basic HVAC) are highly desirable
Experience in student accommodation, residential buildings, hotels, or commercial facilities
Strong fault-finding ability with a safe and methodical approach
Comfortable working alone or as part of a wider team
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Full UK driving licence (required for cluster travel)What's On Offer
