We’re looking for an Assistant Site Technician who enjoys practical, outdoor work and isn’t afraid to get stuck in. You’ll be part of a small team upgrading critical infrastructure, to modernise Portsmouth Naval Base, ensuring fit for purpose and reliable equipment for the Royal Navy.
Your main responsibility will be acting as a Safety Attendant, ensuring that colleagues working in confined spaces are monitored, protected, and able to carry out their tasks safely.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage and maintain the highest possible standards of Health and Safety, in line with legislation and company policies

Act as a confined space safety attendant, monitoring colleagues working in restricted environments

Maintain constant communication with workers inside confined spaces
-
Ensure safety procedures and emergency protocols are always followed

Assist with site setup, equipment checks, and basic installation tasks under supervision

Report any hazards or issues promptly

Support the team with general duties on-site, including handling tools and preparing work areas

There may be a requirement to travel to other sites in the south of England depending on workload and customer needs

Ensure timely submission and accuracy of timesheets, expenses, invoices, and reports
ABOUT YOU:
-
Interest in construction, engineering, or water industry work — no prior experience required

Awareness of health & safety practices (training provided)

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
-
Good communication skills and a responsible, safety-first attitude
-
Willingness to learn and support more experienced technicians
-
Confined space training or certification is a bonus, but not essential
-
Please note as this position is based on a military site, there will be a requirement for a full security check ahead of starting the position
