JOB PURPOSE To provide necessary diagnostic Audiology services to NHS patients referred to the ENT Intermediate service by local GP’s to Communitas Clinics Ltd. To undertake audiology procedures efficiently and effectively adhering to best practice audiology technique. Providing expertise to ensure the appropriate examination of patients. Maintaining a high level of professionalism and technical standard of work, complying with relevant Codes of Practice. THE LOCATION East London, Croydon and Hertfordshire. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To carry out diagnostic hearing tests to patients with Ear Nose and Throat conditions, to include, but are not limited to the following:- Audiogram- Tympanogram- Pure tone air/ Bone conduction- Masking Ensure prompt referral to ENT GPwER where ENT treatment or referral for secondary care treatment is deemed necessary in accordance with local clinical pathways. Maintain good communication with referring GP’s to increase clinical awareness. Adhere to the organisation’s Significant Event Analysis procedures and the timely reporting of untoward events. Undertake appropriate, common investigations Liaise with local Audiology/ ENT Services as outlined on the Referral Pathway Overview. Work in partnership with secondary care clinicians/ commissioners to develop and improve the Patient Care Pathway. Work within the specifications of the ENT Intermediate service contracts. Delivering a Quality Service Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by the HCPC. Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records using the appropriate read codes. Prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality Deliver care according to NSF, NICE guidelines and evidence-based care. Assess effectiveness of care delivery through self and peer review, benchmarking and formal evaluation Initiate and participate in the maintenance of quality governance systems and processes across the organisation and its activities Utilise the audit cycle as a means of evaluating the quality of the work of self and the team, implementing improvements where required In partnership with other clinical teams, collaborate on improving the quality of health care responding to local and national policies and initiatives as appropriate Evaluate patients’ response to health care provision and the effectiveness of care Support and participate in shared learning across the organisation. Use a structured framework (e.g. root-cause analysis) to manage, review and identify learning from patient complaints, clinical incidents and near-miss events Professional Development Assess own learning needs and maintain professional development in accordance with the HCPC (Health & Care Professional Council). Complete all mandatory online training including face to face Basic Life Support training annually. Modules will be renewable on either an annual or 3 yearly basis which will be indicated to you prior to your start date. Attend any relevant training sessions that the organisation may deem necessary. Provide an educational role to patients, carers, families and colleagues in an environment that facilitates learning. Attend and contribute to an internal annual appraisal with Communitas Clinics consultant. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Essential Experience: Proven experience working as an Audiologist within the NHS. Expertise in conducting audiological assessments, fitting hearing aids, and providing follow-up care. Familiarity with NHS referral pathways and clinical guidelines. Experience in using audiology diagnostic equipment and patient management systems. Ability to deliver patient-centered care with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Desirable Experience: Experience in vestibular testing and rehabilitation. Knowledge of paediatric audiology services. Participation in quality improvement initiatives or audits. Education and Qualifications: Degree in Audiology or equivalent qualification. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Membership in the British Academy of Audiology (BAA) or equivalent professional body is desirable.
