Job Purpose:
To assist in the fulfilling of the Procurement function at CPUT in line with the Procurement policy and relevant supply chain management, legislation and regulations. To ensure value for money is achieved on all purchased activities (goods or services) by maximizing the buying power. The position is that of a Buyer to procure goods and services for the institution servicing departments.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- A relevant National Diploma or a Degree in Procurement/Logistics/Supply Chain or equivalent qualification with the same majors
- Three (3) years of relevant experience in a procurement environment
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Recommendation:
- Experience in a higher education environment
- Additional short courses in supply chain and procurement will be an added advantage
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:
- Procurement function implementation in accordance with the procurement policy and relevant legislation
- Needs Analysis
- Handling of queries
- Placing of orders
- Marketing of procurement function
- Liaising with suppliers and keeping up to date with market procurement trends
- Liaising with and assisting end users throughout the procurement function
- General administration
- Ad hoc duties assigned by the line manager
- Knowledge of store practices
- Relevant Legislation and Code of Good Practice
- Good Communication skills (written and verbal)
- ITS System
- Good Time management
- Computer literacy on Microsoft
