JOB DESCRIPTION
A role for an energetic and experienced Technical Service Representative to support our General Industrial coatings customers in KZN is available at Sherwin-Williams South Africa, based in Durban KZN. Extensive travel will be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responds to comprehensive questions and concerns from the customer regarding product technologies and general operations; operates under minimal supervision and solves comprehensive problems that require technical project management principles.
Provides technical direction and assistance to customers w.r.t the use of the product technologies; operations involve multiple or complex locations, and extensive knowledge and application of multiple technologies.
Serves as an operational advisor to customers by applying advanced quality tools and analytical concepts to assist with improving product quality, efficiency, line design and production operations and capacity; receives direction or guidance when required.
Serves as a liaison with sales by interacting with line and management personnel, developing a complete understanding of needs and operations, and providing observations and leads to sales; receives direction from other personnel when required.
Performs broad account management activities by maintaining and creating new sales, facilitating orders, developing relationships with all levels of management, and resolving problems in conjunction with sales or other technical personnel.
Support the sales team with cold canvassing initiatives, business development and product demonstrations to ultimately gain additional business. Interact and support current paint distribution partners with daily operations and end user business/customers when required.
Is fundamental in the stock requirements and management at customer sites together with an appropriate level of understanding on internal logistics and its requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of technical service experience in General Industrial coatings.
- Expert knowledge of the General Industrial or Automotive Refinish paint application process.
- Experience conducting training on the paint application process with customers.
- Experienced with audits and improvements initiatives relating to customer paint process, facility and equipment.
- Experience in practical paint product preparation and application.
- Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with customers as well as resolving both technical and sales related problems/inquiries.
- Proven customer service skills and ability to work with people at all levels.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduate or equivalent education and experience.
- Qualified spray painter will be advantageous.
