Key Responsibilities: Operational Supervision: - Oversee day-to-day drilling operations, ensuring adherence to approved drilling programs, schedules, and budgets.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of drilling crews, contractors, and service providers.
- Monitor the performance of drilling equipment and operations to achieve optimum efficiency and minimal downtime.
- Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of drilling rigs and associated equipment.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): - Promote and enforce a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure all personnel are aware of and adhere to safety protocols.
- Investigate and report incidents, accidents, or near misses and implement corrective actions.
Regulatory Compliance: - Ensure all drilling operations comply with local, national, and international regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to drilling activities, inspections, and certifications.
Planning and Execution: - Collaborate with engineers and project teams to plan drilling operations, including well design, casing, and cementing programs.
- Optimize drilling parameters and procedures to improve well delivery and cost efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and support to resolve operational challenges.
Reporting and Communication: - Prepare and submit detailed daily and periodic drilling reports to management.
- Communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to align operational objectives.
- Participate in planning meetings and operational reviews to ensure continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience: - Bachelors degree or diploma in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in drilling operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling techniques, well control, and rig equipment.
- Certification in well control (e.g., IWCF or IADC WellSharp) is mandatory.
- Familiarity with South African oil and gas regulations and industry best practices.
