Key Responsibilities :
Exploration & Data Analysis:
- Conduct geological surveys, field studies, and sampling to identify potential oil and gas reserves.
- Analyse and interpret subsurface data, including seismic and well-logging information.
- Create detailed geological models to support exploration and development planning.
Resource Estimation:
- Evaluate the size, quality, and economic viability of hydrocarbon reserves.
- Provide recommendations on drilling locations and reservoir management strategies.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Work closely with geophysicists, engineers, and other team members to integrate geological findings into broader project plans.
- Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and presentations for stakeholders.
- Communicate findings effectively to multidisciplinary teams and management.
Operational Support:
- Provide on-site geological support during drilling operations, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Monitor and analyze drilling results to refine geological models and adjust strategies as needed.
Compliance & Sustainability:
- Ensure all geological activities adhere to local, national, and international regulations.
- Promote environmentally responsible practices in exploration and development activities.
Qualifications & Experience: - Bachelors degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field (a Masters degree is advantageous).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a geologist in the oil and gas industry.
- Proficient in geological modeling software and tools (e.g., Petrel, ArcGIS).
- Strong understanding of South African geological formations and hydrocarbon systems.
- Knowledge of drilling operations and well-site geology is preferred.
