The Coal Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of coal mining operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. This includes planning and coordinating activities, managing resources, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and meeting production targets
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet operational and market demands
- Monitor daily production activities to ensure efficiency and productivity
- Analyze operational data and adjust plans to optimize output
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure all operations comply with safety and environmental regulations
- Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular safety audits
- Investigate and report incidents, implementing corrective actions
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and manage production staff, including miners, engineers, and support teams
- Conduct performance reviews, provide training, and mentor employees to enhance skills and performance
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace environment
Resource and Equipment Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and effective utilization of mining equipment and machinery
- Plan and allocate resources, including manpower and materials, to ensure uninterrupted operations
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Prepare and manage budgets for production operations
- Monitor expenses and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or safety
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare production reports, forecasts, and performance analysis for senior management
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance, and compliance activities
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field
- Relevant certifications in mining safety and operations (e.g., Mine manager’s Certificate) will be advantageous
- Minimum of 10 years in coal mining operations, with at least 6 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Experience with underground or surface mining methods
- Strong knowledge of coal mining processes and technologies
- Familiarity with mining software and equipment maintenance systems
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting and cost management
- Ability to make data-driven decisions and solve complex problems
