Purpose of the role: As a Pit Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of mining operations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, and driving operational efficiency. Lead and manage the mining operations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key responsibilities: - Overseeing daily mining operations for enhanced efficiency and productivity
- Plan, organise, lead and monitor the production process
- Providing leadership and guidance to the mining team to achieve production targets
- Implementing, reinforcing, and ensuring compliance to safety standards and protocols
- Ensure optimal plant utilisation & availability
- Efficient people management harnessing collaboration and teamwork
- Collaborating with various departments to coordinate activities and resolve operational challenges
- Implementing best practices to improve overall pit performance
Minimum requirements: - Grade 12
- Opencast Blasting Certificate
- Competent person A certificate
- National Diploma – Mining Engineering will be an advantage
- 10years relevant open cast experience
- 2years middle management experience
- Experience in Processing plant and mine planning - will be advantageous
- Computer literacy in MS Office
- Knowledge of relevant legislation
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven leadership and managerial skills
- English proficiency
- Good report writing skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Physically fit and able to pass a medical/fitness test
- Ability to operate without supervision and be able to work under pressure
- Be a self–starter and able to work according to deadlines
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills
