Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required: - Location Requirement: Candidates should either be South African residents currently living in the Netherlands or South Africans willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- 2 -10 years' experience in shipbuilding or marine engineering with a strong focus on piping design and layout
- Fluency in Afrikaans (both written and spoken).
Beneficial requirements: - Knowledge of marine industry standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, or ISO) and regulatory codes for piping systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks) and familiarity with 3D modeling tools.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Piping Design and Layout: Develop and optimize piping layouts for shipbuilding projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Material Selection: Select appropriate piping materials, considering factors such as durability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- System Integration: Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (structural, electrical, etc.) to ensure smooth integration of piping systems within the vessel.
- Quality Assurance and Testing: Oversee installation and testing of piping systems to meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design reports, schematics, and as-built drawings.
