Tsebo Facilities Solution is looking for an Artisan Aid responsible to perform and supervise the layout, assembly, installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting relating to mechanical equipment and systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and production and processing systems across the business unit according to legislation, regulations and standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
Maintained Mechanical Systems & Equipment (Planned & Preventative Maintenance):
- Establish mechanical equipment performance to prevent breakdowns
- Completes job cards in consultation with the maintenance services (planning) office for scheduled jobs
- Responsible for time management of jobs scheduled each day.
- Prepare necessary tools and PPE for the day ahead.
- Respond to requests relating to fitting equipment and systems installations, repairs and upgrades in line with scheduled repairs and preventative maintenance plans.
- Conduct investigations to diagnose system or equipment faults, locate the source of the problem, and make use of appropriate tools and materials to repair issue including:
- Assemble and secure mechanical parts, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
- Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.
- Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and equipment, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
- Lay out and read mechanical schematics
Resolution of Breakdowns:
- Attends to all mechanical plant breakdowns as issued via the site call centre
- Evaluate & establish the root-cause of the equipment breakdown (missed planned maintenance vs human interference) using problem-solving techniques like 5-why’s, RCA, decision-trees, etc.
- In the event of mechanical modifications, follows defined procedures in updating relevant documentation and equipment records
- Proactively escalates equipment problems to ensure minimal time stoppages
- Maintains IPS standards on the respective lines
- Clearly demarcates workstation in accordance with procedures in the event of major work to minimise disruptions and possible injuries as a result of people traffic and area being used as thoroughfare.
Mechanical Compliance:
- Inspect and test different fitting and welding systems and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness.
- Store and secure parts and tools needed in line with regulations and SOPs
- Maintain Personal Protective Equipment in line with specifications and regulations
- Keep up to date with latest trade knowledge and skills in line with updated equipment and systems; as well as regulations around fitting and welding requirements
- Keep up to date with policies and procedures for installing, maintaining and repairing fitting and welding equipment or machinery; as well as revised testing or installation procedures, and align practices.
- Keep up to date with the handling of various tools including saws, screwdrivers, pliers and knives, as well as the use of power tools, test meters, pipe threaders and conduit benders
- Complete documentation relating to work done for future reference in the event of failures
- Track & report to the mechanical foreman all repairs that have been sent out to vendors & ensure all components returned from repairs are clearly marked & tagged with equipment details, location that equipment can be used & vendor & date that equipment was repaired.
Shift Supervision (If relevant):
- Completes and signs off on inspections registers for equipment, systems, etc.
- Interact and be available to understand and assist clients with requests, special requirements, recommendations, concerns, resolution of complaints, etc.
- Supervise contractors / junior staff appearance and handling of equipment
- Report and resolve any issues experienced
- Completes supporting job / work card admin / paperwork
- Provides support to contractors or staff on escalated technical queries
- Follows up on fault logging until resolution
Conduct:
- Work in a flexible way when the occasion arises so that tasks, which are not specifically covered in the job description, are undertaken
- Take responsibility for one’s own performance
- Promote TFS’s & Sun City’s image at all times.
- Adhere to the TFS’s Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Management System’s Policies & Procedures as applicable to this position
- Identify & report & stop if required any unsafe working conditions.
- Ensure TFS ethical values are adhered to.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge required involves the practical application of work procedures and processes
- Must be computer literate in Excel, MS Word & PowerPoint as a minimum.
- Communicates, co-ordinates and interacts with others in the mechanical team value chain to ensure that repairs, installations and upgrades are resolved correctly & on time every time.
- Good Time Management Skills
- Supplier/Sub-Contractor management
- Good & wide variety of general skills & experience with technical systems required
- Excellent skills with common hand and power tools
- Be able to read technical drawings detailing building layouts and infrastructures
- Experience in the Hospitality environment & a good understanding of customer situations , perception’s & expectations experience
Qualifications
- N3 Mechanical Engineering Qualification and apprenticeship
- Trade Test as a Fitter
- Minimum of 3 -5 years’ experience as a fitter / welder, including fitting, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, pipe repairs, reservoirs, lake pumps, rigging and motor repairs and bearing replacement.
