Introduction
The OHS and Security Manager role is to direct the NEF’s security functions, including physical security and safety of employees, facilities, and assets. Also, establish policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace and ensure company complies with health and safety laws.
Occupational Health and Safety
- Establish and maintain safe and healthy working conditions by formulating general safety, fire prevention and health policies and measures.
- Develop OHS-related policies and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate on the job training for safety and environmental awareness at all levels of the workforce.
- Maintain, review, and report on safety performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing preventative and corrective measures.
- Ensure OHS committee meetings take place quarterly.
- Manage appointment and training of OHS safety representatives.
- Compile OHS report and table at relevant committees.
- Distribute the reports to the relevant role players and regulatory bodies for processing.
- Keep abreast with current and upcoming legislation that may impact on the Safety and Security of the NEF.
- Ensure the safety of VIPs and that they are secured in the building.
- Management of Drivers.
- To ensure that all buildings and equipment comply with statutory regulations for fire, safety and electrical supply.
- To coordinate fire safety management and general building safety, security, maintenance, and infrastructure issues within a building.
- Coordinating and leading one or more teams to cover various areas of responsibility.
General Security
- Ensure that NEF staff, stakeholders, visitors, and property is served and protected.
- Implement approved Security policy.
- Develop Security Officers registers.
- Manage Security Officers.
- Implement security procedural manual for security guards at security reception.
- Upgrade external security measures.
- Conduct security assessment periodically.
- Liaise with government security stakeholders (State Security; SAPS).
- Conduct Security awareness.
- Compile security related project submissions.
- Vetting / screening of security companies as when required.
- Manage and provide VIP protection services.
- Manage relationship with armed response provider.
- Develop and maintain key control procedure and register as well as ensure safety of NEF assets.
- Ensure that the physical buildings and the property of the NEF is safeguarded.
- Manage relationship with armed response provider.
Regional Offices
- Electronic Security at Regional Offices is installed & operational.
- Take charge of Regional Offices' security needs.
- Conduct site visits to regional offices as and when required.
- Ensure regional staff are trained in terms of OHS.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
- Postgraduate degree in the same field will be advantageous.
Experience / Skills Required - Minimum 5 - 10 years of health and safety management experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in people management
- Cutting-edge experience in sustainability best practices and benchmarking will be a key success factor.
