Roles and Responsibilities:
Accounts Management:
- Download and capture monthly bank statements for each group entity using accounting software.
- Source and prep all relevant documentation for financial transactions.
- Prepare and analyze monthly management statements to provide insights into financial performance.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, and other statutory returns.
Budgeting:
- Record and monitor payments against budget forecasts.
- Identify and highlight variances between budgeted and actual expenses.
- Maintain and update records of annual budgets versus actual expenses to assist in financial planning.
Payments and Invoicing:
- Prepare and execute payments in accordance with company procedures.
- Prepare, issue, and distribute invoices and statements to clients.
- Manage debtor and creditor accounts, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of payment issues.
- Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to creditor payments.
Annual Financial Statements:
- Compile and organize all source documentation for annual audits.
- Respond to auditor queries and provide required information.
- Follow up on the preparation and submission of annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Finalize historical accounts and maintain comprehensive, up-to-date financial records.
Documentation:
- Prepare and submit all necessary company annual returns and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
General:
- Lead project management efforts for specific financial initiatives throughout the year.
- Prepare and capture monthly journals, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Conduct monthly expense analyses and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Oversee fixed asset management, including maintaining the fixed asset register and handling insurance claims.
- Perform any ad hoc duties as assigned by the Financial Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., CA, CPA, CIMA) is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Proven experience in managing financial statements, budgeting, and compliance.
- Experience with accounting software and financial reporting tools.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL submissions, and annual financial statement preparation.
- Knowledge of fixed asset management and general ledger reconciliations.
