The role of this particular position involves overseeing the operations of the water treatment plant at the Abattoir.
Minimum Requirements
- National Senior Certificate will be essential.
- A relevant qualification such as environmental science, chemistry or related field will be an advantage.
- At least 3 years’ experience in water treatment operations, including experience in supervisory or managerial position.
- Experience in processing/production within a Chicken Abattoir environment will serve as preference.
- Ability and willingness to work varying shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays.
- Sound knowledge of water treatment processes.
- Analytical problem-solving ability.
- Must be able to perform under pressure and work independently with minimum supervision.
- Leadership and people management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform regular inspections and tests on water samples to monitor the quality of the treated water.
- Maintain accurate records of wastewater treatment plant operations including daily logs, test results, chemical usage, maintenance activities, and water meters.
- Analyse data and trends to identify issues or potential improvements in the wastewater treatment process and implement necessary corrective actions.
- Respond to emergencies or equipment malfunctions in a timely manner to minimize disruptions to the wastewater treatment process and prevent any impact to the environment.
- Collaborate with maintenance staff to coordinate plant maintenance activities.
- Maintain chemical inventory.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping.
- Responsible for working in a safe manner to ensure safety and the safety of others.
- Perform other tasks, activities and/or duties as assigned by your manager.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in wastewater treatment technology and regulations to ensure continuous improvement in plant operations.
- Manage staff at the water treatment plant.
