As Residency Program Officer, you will work collaboratively with faculty leadership, residents and administrative staff to support the educational mandate in the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. You will play an integral role in developing a department-wide strategy in coordinating curriculum, supporting accreditation processes and advising staff on program and policy changes. Your proven track record of delivering projects and driving process improvement will be critical to the success of our programs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing day-to-day educational and operational needs for the department
- Leading project initiatives and implementing project plans
- Analyzing and making recommendations for student program enhancements
- Gathering relevant documentation and coordinating accreditation/auditing processes
- Analyzing and maintaining data, generating reports and identifying discrepancies
- Fostering strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Directing the activities of a single ongoing staff-appointed employee
- Implementing operational policies, procedures and best practices for the program
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of related administrative experience in a university or healthcare environment
- Experience with conceptualizing, organizing and executing program activities such as workshops and the delivery of programs by developing project plans and using data-driven analysis and reporting
- Experience with analyzing and making recommendations for student program enhancements
- Experience coordinating postgraduate residency training programs; interpreting and applying policies and procedures, particularly from Postgraduate Medical Education Office (PGME) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- Experience supporting, coordinating, and creating communication materials for committees and events
- Experience compiling and analyzing data and generating reports
- Experience developing new procedures and processes and seeing them through from conception to implementation, and evaluating existing programs and systems and making recommendations for change
- Experience with the preparation and coordination of accreditation and audit processes
- Experience in developing precedents and process for petitions and appeals for residents, suggesting alternative course of action if necessary
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (SharePoint), project management tools, survey tools (Redcap), Focus, and Laserfiche
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external senior stakeholders
- Strong time management skills, including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to cope with pressures and deadlines and adapt to new processes and procedures
- Ability to analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources and provide recommendations
- Strong initiative, resourceful and excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
