SM Xulu - Supervisor for the Accounting Department
SM Xulu is looking for a supervisor for the accounting department, to assist the company with the daily running of the accounting department in the Johannesburg, Woodmead branch.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Team supervision, coaching, performance management, training, and succession planning.
- Engaging with clients and/or business partners to develop an understanding of needs and presenting solutions to fulfill the respective needs.
- Maintaining oversight of the respective clients' business systems, processes, and procedures to ensure that the ongoing management is compliant with statutory and/or regulatory requirements.
- Pastel experience of processing journals, performing General Ledger (GL) account reconciliations while ensuring that journal entries are accurately and timely processed, preparing books of prime entry to trial balance; general ledger; customers ledger; creditors ledger.
- Updating fixed asset register for both accounting and tax purposes.
- Compilation of monthly management accounts and financial statements using CaseWare.
- Good understanding of accounting standards.
- Good understanding and application of legislations such as Companies Act, 2008; Income Tax Act, 1965; Tax Administration Act, 2011 and VAT Act, 1991.
- Compilation and submission of VAT returns, EMP returns & income tax returns using Efiling to SARS.
- Addressing SARS queries and lodging queries.
- Ensuring that VAT 201s returns reconcile with general ledger and annual financial statements.
- VAT reviews experience in local government, municipalities, and submission of claims.
- Calculation and compilation of both IT12s & IT14s returns including supporting documents and addressing any queries.
- Reconciling all balance sheet accounts including Creditors, Debtors, Bank Account to Statements, etc.
- Billing clients (issuing invoices) and following up on collections.
- Fixed assets valuation experience for either GRAP and/or IFRS.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Qualification – B. Com Accounting.
- Completed South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) articles.
- Accounting Honours or Post-Graduate Diploma in Advanced Accounting.
- Professional Accountant (SA) or Associate General Accountant (AGA)(SA).
- Member of a recognised accounting body such as SAICA, SAIPA and SAIBA.
- Over 6 years’ experience in an accounting environment and/or in the employment of an accounting firm.
- Auditing and Management Accounting experience.
- CaseWare and Sage Pastel software skills.
