The Junior Designer executes the design of print, digital, social, and visual merchandise artwork, as briefed by the relevant team member (senior designer) and is responsible for the rollout and production of visual content that aligns with our brand’s identity and adheres consistently to the ARC CI.
Key Responsibilities :
- Graphic Design
- Timeously design visual material and assist with the roll out of campaigns for digital, social, and print media, including social media posts and stories, website banners, emails, posters, gift vouchers, cards, packaging, and other promotional materials.
- Understand mobile-first design principles and implement accordingly.
- Timeously design in-store signage such as store windows, in-store digital screens, and visual merchandising materials.
- Assist with the creation of moving social media graphics such as GIFs or reels where possible.
- Design in accordance with ARC’s brand standards and guidelines, with guidance from the Content Head and Senior Designer, to ensure consistency across all channels.
- Design according to brief.
- Marketing Team Assistance
- Collaborate with the marketing team and participate in brainstorming sessions to suggest design ideas and solutions that effectively communicate the brand message.
- Assist in the conceptualisation of brand campaigns for ARC and the brands stocked within ARC.
- Work closely with the Content Head, the Project Managers, and internal teams to ensure their design needs are met on time.
- Communicate effectively with all relevant team members daily on your design production process and project statuses.
- Basic Video Editing
- Where possible, assist with basic video/GIF editing, shooting content for social media, and animation for in-store screens.
- Manage own personal development through your PDP (Personal Development Plan). Request training and feedback on performance and strive to improve based on these interventions.
- Adhere to the company's values.
- Take personal responsibility for all issues facing the department, work as a team, and mentor/coach new employees as required.
- Communicate with your line manager regularly and make recommendations on improving efficiencies in the department.
KPIs:
- Deliver creative assets for all briefed campaigns, on time.
- Delivery creative assets to brief, with no more than a maximum of three reverts.
- Ensure all assets designed adhere to ARC’s brand guidelines.
KEY CHALLENGES:
- Volume of projects will be high. Need to be prepared to manage a large workload within very tight deadlines.
- Communicating with a small team with high workloads.
JOB RELATED KNOWLEDGE:
- Microsoft suite – Outlook / Word / Excel and SharePoint. Prior experience and above average user knowledge.
- Proficient in: ADOBE InDesign/ Photoshop/ Illustrator/ Figma as well as any additional Creative Cloud Suite programmes is advantageous.
- Be familiar with social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
- Video editing skills / video is a bonus.

- Experience in retail and or the beauty industry advantageous.
