GIBB Mining, a subsidiary of the GIBB Group, is looking for another talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Project Planner. We welcome your application if you believe you meet the requirements for this position.
The below listed responsibilities and requirements will be assessed during the interview stages and will further be confirmed with the relevant professional references that you currently are or have reported to in your previous two positions.
Core Purpose of the Role
The experienced Project Planner will be part of a team that manages key clients and projects in the mining/infrastructure/power sectors. The Project Planner will develop, progress and report the schedule status of the project and proactively assist and support the PM to deliver the project objectives and report on the project status. The planner undertakes the initial and ongoing detailed forward planning for the project in support of the PM. The Project Planner will be expected to manage multiple projects and studies schedules and support respective project leads.
Key Performance Areas
- Develop schedules for tenders and projects.
- Assess and evaluate contractors' schedules.
- Provide feedback to the Project Managers on project progress regularly.
- Update Master Plans.
- Monitor and update Project schedules as required.
- Attend regular progress meetings to ensure the work is being carried out in line with the agreed schedules and programme.
- Ensure proper interfacing of programmes between the Client, GIBB Mining, and the Contractors.
- Issue updated Project Schedules to the Project Manager.
- Ensure timely collection of accurate updated information is incorporated into the Schedules.
- Analyse the effects of updated information and highlight any adverse situations to the Project Manager and Construction Manager. Ensure that the Project keeps within constraint dates and proactively issue warning alerts if running late, along with proposing possible solutions.
- Incorporate Changes to the Scope of Work into the Schedule, Histograms and Progress curves and analyse their effects. Liaise with the relevant Managers on the latest Scope Changes.
- Conduct Multi Discipline Planning with different Contractors and other Project team members and combine these (Sub Projects) into the Site Master Plan.
- Provide necessary schedule-related input to contract claims assessments.
- Prepare charts and diagrams for reports, indicating planned, actual and forecast pertaining to projects.
- Carry out additional scheduling and reporting tasks as requested by Management.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Develop schedule progress reports and update these reports regularly.
- Develop formulae within MS Projects to report on specific aspects of the schedule.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- PMI SP (Scheduling Professional) / PMI PMP (Project Management Professional).
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering and/or Project Management/Planning or similar.
Experience:
- 5 to 8 years relevant experience in the role of Project Planner is essential.
- Expert knowledge of and competence in the use of MS Project.
- Expert knowledge of MS Office.
- Project planning experience in multi-discipline mining, minerals and petrochemical processing projects and studies.
- Site planning experience in multi-discipline mining and minerals processing projects and studies.
- EPC / EPCM experience in either a consulting or construction contractor environment.
