Job Description: The items detailed herein are guidelines for the Wet Services Project Engineer position; they are to include the items detailed below but are not limited to these. These items are indicators of eligibility / capability for the position. The suitability of staff for the position remains at the discretion of management and subject to an Engineering position being available. Hospital and other Healthcare experience will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing full plumbing and drainage designs in accordance with relevant SANS Standards 10252-1, 10252-2 and SANS 10400-A, P etc. Relevant British Standards/Codes of Practice will be advantageous.
- Have minimum basic knowledge of Revit/BIM modelling i.e. navigating Revit.
- Project financial management: Generating project budgets, cost estimates, managing valuation certificates and cost reports.
- Generating tender documents, measuring of Bills of Quantities (B.O.Q’s) and compiling JBCC-based tender documents.
- Attend site visits and meetings and performing any actions arising therefrom.
- Manage project resourcing and profitability.
- Attending project meetings and able to engage relevant project stakeholders i.e. Project Managers, Clients, Quantity Surveyors, MEPF Engineers, Contractor etc.
- Health and Safety: Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision, and policies by influencing those around you.
- Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm.
- Embracing, displaying, and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times.
Qualifications:
- BSc, BTech in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Wet Services Design and managing Wet Services projects from inception to handover and close out. MEPF Building services experience highly advantageous.
- Professionally registered with ECSA.
- Autodesk software experience such as Revit MEP and AutoCAD Software experience.
- Solid knowledge of SANS 10252 Part 1 and 2, further, knowledge of SANS 10400, specifically Part A and P.
- Supplemental knowledge of the equivalent CIBSE/BS/ASPE codes highly advantageous.
- Solid and demonstrated experience in project budgets, valuation certificates and cost reports, full wet services project financial control as per typical PROCSA requirements.
- Solid and demonstrated experience in tender documents, measuring of Bills of Quantities (B.O.Q’s) and compiling JBCC-based tender documents.
Key Competencies and Generic Skills:
- Must be mobile and have own transport.
- Computer literacy.
- Effective communication skills (written and oral) fluency in English essential.
- Ability to travel to remote project sites as required.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
