Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required: - Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- 1-10 years experience in interior system integration within the shipbuilding or marine industry.
- Location Requirement: Candidates should either be South African residents currently living in the Netherlands or South Africans willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
- Fluency in Afrikaans (both written and spoken).
Beneficial requirements: - Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and experience with 3D modelling tools for system layout and design.
- Strong understanding of maritime safety regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL) and industry standards for interior systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Interior System Integration: Collaborate with architects, designers, and engineers to integrate HVAC, lighting, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems into the vessels interior layout.
- Design Coordination: Ensure that the design and installation of all interior systems meet safety, regulatory, and operational requirements while maximizing space utilization and functionality.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all interior systems comply with international maritime safety standards and regulations, including fire safety, ventilation, and environmental controls.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work with naval architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of interior systems within the ships overall structure.
- Troubleshooting & Optimization: Provide ongoing technical support during construction and testing phases, ensuring efficient operation of integrated systems and resolving any issues related to system performance or design.
