Key Purpose
Understanding business requirements and documenting, validating, and translating them into functional specifications for developers. Testing and validating functionality against business requirements, interfacing between the business client and development team, and ensuring that business requirements are delivered in the implemented solution.
Areas of Responsibility
• Act as a consultant to the client on the application
• Participate in client planning forums and advise on solutions
• Challenge the business in their thinking to understand the intent of the business requirement
• Assist business to articulate the benefits they wish to realize with the solution
• Facilitate the development of a Business Case
Customer Requirements Specification (CRS)
• Follow a structured process to document client requirements
• Facilitate activities like interviews or JAD sessions
• Document the requirements in a CRS document
• Review the functional requirements with the client and obtain sign-off
Product Requirements Specification (PRS)
• Design and validate the functional solution
• Interpret the CRS into a set of Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS)
• Identify stakeholders for PRS creation and validation
• Build & demonstrate GUI prototypes
Project Documentation
• Perform Project Management activities
• Maintain project documentation
• Act as a project manager: define & manage risks, document scope, assign tasks
Release Notes & Training Material
• Update and publish release notes
• Assist trainers with queries and develop procedure manuals
Query Report
• Respond to incidents escalated by the Incidents team
• Conduct preliminary analysis on issues
Service Level Agreements
• Agree required support functions with business and document in SLA
• Provide end user support during go-live

Education and Experience
• 5 years solid Business Analysis experience with significant exposure within the SDLC
• Strong understanding of business processes and functional requirements
• Matric
• BSc Comp Sciences / Information Systems or equivalent tertiary qualification (Advantageous)
Technical Knowledge
• PL/SQL, SQL, UML, XML, and OO
• Tools: Enterprise architect, Visio, Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
