The Role:
Role purpose: To ensure a specific focus area of the Manufacturing Operations’ assets is managed, maintained and operated at maximum efficiency. Enabled by digital analysis, the manufacturing process on all assets is controlled and continuously improved so that quality and efficiency is improved in accordance with the operational excellence and reliability pillars.
Leadership
Perform a leadership role and influence for all engineering resources.
Responsible for owning and improving reliability of equipment and initiatives in driving CI.
Capable of leading and motivating and influence a team by setting objectives and driving performance management.
Train, develop and up skill personnel by means of on-the-job as well as technical and generic training.
Manage Reliability and CI Projects on equipment
Corporate Governance, Ethics Quality, Safety and Housekeeping standards
Manages contracts and contractor control procedures and rules for the department.
Requires understanding of Environmental, legal and K-C statutory requirements.
Ensure assets and equipment are maintained in a “Safe to operate” condition at all times while promoting all aspects of safe working practices to meet all safety and housekeeping objectives of the plant.
Contribute to the development of sound safety programmes and maintenance of good working conditions, adherence to organization and legal safety rules and regulations.
Continually comply with all K-C regulatory & control requirements, internal controls, while at all-times driving accountability and compliance on the assets and equipment.
Strategic Asset Reliability (includes preventative and predictive maintenance
To optimise the specific manufacturing process through the design of new mechanical process systems together with optimisation/maintenance of existing process systems in order to achieve optimum plant and process reliability according to K-C Reliability Pillars that supports P2030.
Provide communication on equipment related issues; work with Engineering/Operations to identify development opportunities to improve MTBF and put improvement action plans in place.
Give feedback on uptime initiatives to improve outputs and identify solutions to equipment related problems.
Manage and optimize the PM system and replacement of all parts in accordance with the relevant Planned Maintenance schedules
Provide technical information to the maintenance teams detailing work requests for planned and reactive maintenance.
Give direction to the team regarding prioritisation of efforts towards preventative maintenance shuts, process improvements and trouble shooting.
Ensure effective management of Preventative Maintenance systems.
Plan, organise and control all equipment reliability activities through FEC process.
Strategic Asset Reliability
Analyse and interpret data to enable technical teams to achieve performance targets in accordance with P2030 and Manufacturing best practice.
Initiate and participate in improvement discussions to improve spare parts life cycle.
Analyse maintenance trends and breakdowns providing the necessary input and analytics around business intelligence to predict and discuss possible improvement projects as well as cost relevant to life cycle management and replacement.
Formulate, develop, and drive opportunities within engineering, supported by digital analysis and interpreting data to deliver improved efficiencies.
Ensure adequate spare parts are ready and available for maintenance and breakdowns inline with the budget.
Develop relationships with equipment vendors to reduce costs and increase reliability of assets and equipment.
To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:
Minimum of a BEng Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent tertiary education.
Minimum of 3 -5 years previous engineering and maintenance experience in FMCG environment would be advantageous.
