NOV Energy Equipment, Rig Equipment are seeking an Electrical Engineer who will perform a variety of electrical engineering tasks designing, planning, and overseeing the design and development of electrical components, systems and Control Systems. We work closely with several other disciplines to increase the total value of the products and services that NOV can offer. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, develop, and design Electrical and electronic interface circuitry for control of products. Coordinate Power System calculations (short circuit study, load flow study, circuit breaker coordination study, arc flash study, and harmonic study) Provide technical support in the installation and commissioning of advanced low-voltage ABB and Siemens AC drives. Familiar with NEC, IEEE & IEC standards along with awareness of ABS & DNV rules content for offshore drilling installations. Familiar with hazardous area ratings for electrical equipment: ATEX, IECEx, UL, FM, and CSA for land and offshore drilling installations. Work with customers (internal/external) and review project defining documents to understand project requirements. Create and/or design electrical drawings and documentation. (Typical; block diagram, termination diagram, electrical schematics, interconnect, electrical one line diagrams, cable indexes, fabrication and assembly general arrangement drawings of power or control panels with associated BOM’s, cable and instrument layouts, and hazardous area Ensure electrical scope and content is defined during initial design processes. Provide electrical leadership in preparation, and ensure that deliverables projects are controlled with regard to scope, schedule, budget, performing appraisal, etc. Establish design criteria for deliverables using required codes and standards. Review contractual content to ensure technical and regulatory compliance. Ensure subsequent design changes are documented and transmitted as required to internal and external resources. Participate in design review. Provide manufacturing with technical assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or Mechatronic.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred 5+ years of experience designing control systems. Relevant experience within Instrumentation, Electrical, Mining Machines or Automotive may compensate where there is no formal qualification Practical experience with FATs or Commissioning Equipment Experience with design and engineering of Ex (hazardous area) equipment is desirable. Experience from using AutoCAD design tool will be an advantage
SKILLS, TRAINING & SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of offshore design standards is beneficial but not essential Knowledge and experience in Teams Centre Siemens (Desirable) Having a professional letter/certification in electrical, automation, etc. is an advantage Knowledge and experience with Explosion Proof equipment preferred (Desirable) Generally good IT knowledge and experience from using relevant software
