Sub Agent
Location: Cardiff / South Wales
Sector: Civil Engineering / Infrastructure
Salary: Estimated £48,000–£60,000 + package (subject to confirmation)
The Opportunity
Walker & Sloan are recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent to join an established civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across South Wales.
The business is involved in a range of infrastructure sectors, including energy, water, highways and coastal engineering, providing an opportunity to work on technically challenging schemes within a regional project delivery team.
This position would suit an established Sub Agent or an experienced Senior Site Engineer looking to take the next step into broader project management responsibilities.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will support the management and delivery of civil engineering projects, working closely with Site Agents, Project Managers and operational teams to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme requirements.
You will be responsible for coordinating site activities, managing subcontractors and direct labour, monitoring progress and ensuring resources are appropriately planned and allocated.
The position will involve supporting project programming, reviewing technical drawings and specifications, overseeing quality assurance procedures and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
You will also contribute to the commercial management of projects, including maintaining accurate site records, supporting cost control and assisting with contractual processes under NEC forms of contract.
Temporary works coordination, risk assessments, method statements and effective communication with clients and project stakeholders will form an important part of the role.
About You
You will have previous experience working within civil engineering, ideally as a Sub Agent, Section Engineer or Senior Site Engineer with substantial site management responsibilities.
Experience delivering projects within energy infrastructure, water, highways or coastal and marine engineering is particularly relevant.
A sound understanding of NEC contracts, ideally NEC4, is important, alongside the ability to coordinate subcontractors, manage programmes and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
The vacancy requires relevant site qualifications and training, including SMSTS, CSCS, Temporary Works Supervisor or Coordinator training, First Aid and HSG47.
You should be confident managing day-to-day site operations, resolving technical challenges and working collaboratively with project teams.
