Evolve Staffing Ltd. is actively recruiting compassionate, dependable, and experienced Band 2 Healthcare Assistants (HCA / Clinical Support Workers) with proven clinical experience in an NHS or private hospital setting to support acute hospital wards and clinical departments across major NHS Hospital Trusts in Cheshire.
Operating within one of Cheshire's primary major NHS acute healthcare facilities—a significantly larger and more comprehensive clinical hub compared to regional community networks—this role presents an outstanding opportunity for dedicated healthcare support staff seeking flexible shift patterns, top-tier agency pay rates, and diverse clinical exposure within fast-paced acute hospital ward environments.
As a Band 2 HCA representing Evolve Staffing Ltd., you will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary clinical team alongside Registered Nurses (RNs), Ward Sisters, and Medical Officers.
You will deliver high-quality, person-centered direct patient care, assist qualified nursing staff with vital physiological observations, uphold strict infection prevention control standards, and ensure patient safety, comfort, and dignity across general medical, surgical, emergency assessment, elderly care, and acute inpatient wards.
Key Responsibilities & Clinical Duties
As a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant within a major Cheshire NHS hospital ward setting, your primary responsibility is to support qualified nursing staff in maintaining exceptional standards of inpatient care, patient safety, and ward efficiency.
Your day-to-day duties across general inpatient wards will encompass:
Direct Patient Care & Daily Living Support

-
Nutritional & Hydration Monitoring: Supporting patient nutrition by assisting with meal delivery, protected mealtime assistance for dependent patients, preparing hot/cold drinks, and maintaining detailed, auditable fluid balance and food intake monitoring charts.
-
Elimination & Continence Management: Assisting patients with elimination needs, catheter bag drainage monitoring, commode assistance, bedpan placement, and prompt, hygienic incontinence care.
Clinical Support & Physiological Observations
-
Vital Signs Monitoring: Performing and accurately recording baseline physiological observations, including Blood Pressure, Heart Rate/Pulse, Respiratory Rate, Body Temperature, Pulse Oximetry ($SpO_2$), and Blood Glucose levels using digital clinical monitoring systems.
-
NEWS2 Escalation: Calculating and recording National Early Warning Scores (NEWS2) to promptly recognize, document, and escalate subtle signs of clinical deterioration to the nurse in charge or attending medical team.
-
Basic Clinical Procedures: Assisting qualified nursing staff during simple sterile dressing changes, routine wound checks, specimen collection (urine, stool, sputum, MRSA swabs), and urinalysis dipstick testing.
Ward Operations, Infection Control & Governance
-
Infection Prevention & Control (IPC): Maintaining strict adherence to NHS Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidelines, including bare-below-the-elbows policies, strict hand hygiene protocols, and proper donning/doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
-
Environment & Hygiene Maintenance: Ensuring ward cleanliness, sanitizing bed spaces between patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and keeping clinical equipment clean, tested, and ready for immediate use.
-
Documentation & Team Handover: Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous nursing documentation, patient care records, skin assessment charts, and actively participating in structured shift handovers.
-
