Locum Children’s Social Worker – Child Protection & Family Help
Austin Dean Recruitment is seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker for a locum opportunity with a local authority in Wareham, Dorset.
This is an opportunity for a Qualified Social Worker to support children, young people and families through statutory social work services. You’ll join an established Child Protection and Family Help team, working on a varied caseload and helping achieve positive outcomes for families.
About the role
You’ll manage a statutory children’s social work caseload that may include:
Key responsibilities

Deliver statutory social work services in line with the Children Act 1989

Complete high-quality Child and Family Assessments
-
Manage Children in Need and Child Protection cases
-
Carry out safeguarding investigations and risk assessments
-
Undertake direct work with children, young people and families
-
Prepare court statements, reports and care plans
-
Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings
-
Maintain accurate case records and statutory documentation
Requirements
To be considered, you’ll need:

A recognised Social Work qualification
-
Current Social Work England registration
-
At least three years’ post-qualification experience in a UK local authority Children’s Services team
-
Experience in Child Protection, safeguarding, court work and Children in Need services
-
Enhanced DBS clearance
-
A full UK driving licence
Pay and benefits

£38–£42 per hour
-
Up to £150 per week in allowable expenses where your home address is more than 30 miles from the designated work hub, subject to Austin Dean Recruitment’s terms and conditions

£500 referral bonus, subject to terms and conditions
