Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Opportunity We are representing a leading, award-winning Tier 1 Principal Contractor to find a dedicated and experienced Design Coordinator to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business renowned for engineering excellence and career development, offering a flexible hybrid working model (splitting your time between the site/Nottingham office and home).
The Role As a Design Coordinator, you will act as the crucial link between the external design consultants, the client, and our on-site construction delivery teams. You will ensure that all multi-disciplinary designs are coordinated, constructable, compliant with national standards, and delivered on time to support the construction programme.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate the flow of design information between design partners, site engineers, and commercial teams.
Review design drawings and specifications for buildability, identifying and resolving any potential clashes, risks, or constructability issues early in the process.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant technical standards, specifications, and client requirements.
Chair and lead regular design review meetings, ensuring actions are captured and closed out.
Manage the Technical Query (TQ) and Request for Information (RFI) processes effectively.
Drive Value Engineering (VE) initiatives, finding cost-effective and innovative solutions without compromising on quality or safety.
Liaise closely with external stakeholders, including local authorities, utility providers, and statutory bodies.
Maintain accurate records and document control using the project's Common Data Environment (CDE).
About You (Requirements):
Experience: Proven track record working as a Design Coordinator or Design Engineer for a main contractor within the civil engineering, highways, or heavy infrastructure sectors.
Qualifications: Degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil engineering construction methods, sequencing, and national highway design standards.
Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong commercial awareness, and the capacity to read and interpret complex technical drawings.
Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of bridging the gap between designers and builders.
Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with BIM, CAD software, and modern document control systems.
A valid CSCS card.
What We Offer:
Hybrid Working: A supportive approach to flexible working, blending site/office presence with remote work.
Competitive Salary: Highly competitive base salary tailored to your experience level.
Comprehensive Package: Includes a company car or car allowance, generous pension scheme, private healthcare, and life assurance.
Career Progression: Clear pathways for professional development and advancement within a top-tier national contractor.
How to Apply: If you are an experienced Design Coordinator looking for your next challenge on a major infrastructure project, we want to hear from you. Please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience.
