Sea Import Operator - Deep Sea LCL & FCL - Freight Forwarding - Manchester - £35,000-£45,000 About the Company Our client is an established international freight forwarding business providing sea freight, air freight, customs and logistics solutions to customers importing and exporting goods around the world. Due to continued business requirements, they are looking to recruit an experienced Sea Import Operator to join their busy operations team. As a Sea Import Operator, you will be responsible for coordinating deep sea import shipments, covering both LCL and FCL movements, from initial quotation and pricing through to booking, pre-alerts, customs clearance, cargo release, delivery and final completion. You will work closely with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure shipments are handled efficiently, accurately and in line with customer and company requirements. Sea Import Operator - The Details

£35,000-£45,000 DOE Full office-based role Monday - Friday Training provided on relevant operational and customs systems Opportunity to develop knowledge across international sea freight and import operations Varied role covering import operations, customer service, quotations, pricing, customs and financial administration Supportive and collaborative working environment Occasional flexibility to support other departments and operational requirements Sea Import Operator - Requirements

Previous experience within sea freight, freight forwarding or import operations Good understanding of deep sea import procedures and documentation Knowledge of BIFA Terms and Conditions would be advantageous Experience handling both LCL and FCL import shipments Experience managing import shipments from quotation and booking through to completion Good knowledge of shipping lines, overseas agents and international freight procedures Knowledge of customs clearance procedures and import documentation Experience coordinating cargo release and delivery arrangements Strong commercial awareness with the ability to obtain and negotiate freight rates Experience preparing and issuing accurate customer quotations Strong customer service and communication skills Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail and accuracy Confident liaising with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers and suppliers Proactive approach with the ability to use initiative and common sense when resolving operational issues Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities Flexible approach to workload and willingness to support the wider business Experience using freight forwarding or transport management systems would be advantageous Sea Import Operator - Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end LCL and FCL sea import shipments, from quotation and booking through to completion Obtain and negotiate competitive freight rates and prepare customer quotations Arrange bookings with shipping lines, overseas agents and suppliers Process pre-alerts, monitor vessel movements and keep customers updated Prepare arrival notices, invoices and relevant shipment documentation Coordinate customs clearance, cargo release, collections and deliveries Monitor destination charges, demurrage, detention and additional costs Check supplier invoices, query discrepancies and ensure accurate cost recording Maintain accurate shipment records and update operational systems Resolve customer and operational queries, escalating issues where necessary Build strong relationships with customers, overseas agents, carriers and suppliers Identify opportunities for additional business and improved service Support colleagues and other departments when required Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry regulations About Us Detail2Recruitment acts as an employment agency in respect of this position.
