The Role
As a Trainee Advisor, you’ll speak with customers about their protection needs, building relationships and developing your understanding of life insurance and the advice process.
You’ll initially work within your training and supervision framework, progressing towards providing suitable recommendations once trained and authorised to do so.
Key Responsibilities for the Trainee Protection Advisor:
• Speak with prospective customers over the phone, building rapport and understanding their circumstances.
• Complete thorough fact-finds to establish customers’ family commitments, financial priorities and existing protection.
• Develop your knowledge of life insurance, protection products and insurer criteria.
• Explain product features, benefits, limitations and exclusions clearly.
• Handle questions and objections professionally, using a consultative rather than pressurised approach.
• Progress towards making suitable protection recommendations within your training and authorisation.
• Support customers through applications, gathering accurate information and keeping them informed.
• Manage your pipeline, follow-ups and customer records efficiently.
• Work towards agreed sales, service and quality targets while maintaining compliance standards.
• Participate in coaching, training and study towards your R05 qualification.
Experience for the Trainee Advisor:
• Previous sales experience, ideally within insurance or financial services.
• Confidence building rapport and maintaining engaging telephone conversations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused, consultative approach.
• The ability to handle objections and explain information clearly.
• Good organisation, time management and attention to detail.
• A willingness to learn, take feedback and develop within a regulated environment.
• A genuine interest in a long-term career in protection advice.
