Location: EN10
Duration: 3 months initially, with strong potential for ongoing work
Rate: £22–£26 per hour, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Freelance
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Working Foreman to join a leading national contractor on a residential development in EN10.
The project involves overseeing the final stages of construction across five newly built townhouses, with a particular focus on multi-trade finishing works, snagging and ensuring the properties are completed to a high standard ready for handover.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Working Foreman with a strong residential construction background who can confidently coordinate multiple trades while carrying out practical finishing works where required.
The initial contract is for three months, with a genuine prospect of ongoing work thanks to the contractor's fantastic pipeline of future projects.
Key Responsibilities
-
Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day running of site activities, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with the construction programme.
-
Take a hands-on approach to multi-trade finishing works, assisting with general finishing tasks and supporting subcontractors to maintain progress across all five properties.
-
Coordinate and supervise finishing trades, including joiners, decorators, plasterers, tilers, electricians, plumbers and other relevant subcontractors.
-
Manage internal finishing works such as second-fix carpentry, architraves, skirting boards, ironmongery, door adjustments, mastic application, minor making good and general snagging.
-
Oversee final decoration, touch-ups, plaster repairs and other remedial works to ensure a consistent, high-quality finish throughout each property.
-
Monitor the completion of kitchens, bathrooms, sanitaryware, tiling, flooring and other final fixtures and fittings, coordinating trades to avoid clashes and delays.
-
Carry out regular quality inspections, identify defects and incomplete works, and ensure snagging items are rectified promptly.
-
Organise and prioritise daily tasks across the development, allocating work to trades and ensuring labour is being used effectively.
-
Maintain a clear understanding of progress across each townhouse, driving works towards completion and ensuring handover deadlines are achieved.
-
Coordinate deliveries, materials and subcontractor attendance to ensure the site remains organised and finishing works progress without unnecessary disruption.
-
Liaise closely with the Site Manager and project team, providing regular progress updates and escalating any issues affecting quality, programme or delivery.
-
Maintain high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and site organisation throughout the final stages of construction.
-
Ensure completed properties are clean, presentable and ready for client inspections and handover.
Requirements
-
Previous experience as a Working Foreman or in a similar supervisory role within residential construction.
-
Strong experience overseeing multi-trade finishing works on new-build residential developments.
-
A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to undertake minor finishing and remedial works where required.
-
Good knowledge of construction sequencing, snagging, quality control and residential handover processes.
-
Valid CSCS card.
-
SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
-
Valid First Aid qualification.
