About the Role
At Crookhey Hall School, we're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to help students overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve outcomes they never thought possible.
This isn't just a classroom-based role. It's an opportunity to become a trusted adult in a young person's life, someone who provides encouragement, stability and support when it's needed most.
Every day is different. You might be helping a student engage in learning, supporting them through a challenging moment, developing life skills, or celebrating a breakthrough that others may have thought impossible. The progress may be big or small, but every step forward matters.
If you're patient, resilient, and passionate about making a genuine difference, this could be the career opportunity you've been looking for.
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting students in class, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis to help them achieve their individual goals.
Building positive, trusting relationships that help students feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
Working alongside teachers and specialists to deliver personalised support and learning programmes.
Encouraging independence, confidence, communication skills and personal development.
Providing calm, consistent support during challenging situations and helping students regulate emotions.
Supporting educational visits, enrichment activities and learning beyond the classroom.
Celebrating progress and helping create a positive environment where every student can succeed.
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need to have worked in a specialist school before. You might already work in education, or have transferable experience from care, support work, youth work, coaching, residential care or another people-focused environment.
What matters most is that you have the patience, resilience and commitment to build positive relationships with young people.
GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent required.
A caring, patient and positive approach to supporting young people.
The resilience to remain calm and consistent when situations become challenging.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Reliability, professionalism and an understanding of confidentiality.
A willingness to learn, develop and adapt your approach around individual student needs.
A genuine commitment to helping every young person achieve their potential.
Driving Licence required.
