Well-being Support Officer (Urdu Speaking)
Fixed term contract for 12 months, 22.5 hours per week.
Unpaid carers in Lancashire's Urdu-speaking communities often face real barriers to getting support. This role exists to change that — and your language skills and empathy could make a genuine difference to people who need it most.
What you'll be doing
You'll work directly with unpaid carers, helping them feel heard and connecting them with the right services and community resources.
Review Carers Assessments and contingency plans, identifying changing needs
Develop personalised support plans with carers
Provide clear information about carers' rights and entitlements
Support carers from ethnic minority communities, with a focus on the Urdu-speaking community
Build community links and support culturally relevant groups and outreach
Work alongside mental health services to support carers of people with mental health conditions
Help remove barriers that prevent carers from accessing support
About you
You don't need a background specifically in carers support — your transferable skills matter. We'd welcome applications from people with experience in health, social care, housing, mental health, community services or the voluntary sector.
You'll need:
Confident spoken Urdu — essential for communicating with carers and community members
Experience supporting adults individually and sensitively
The ability to gather information and help people navigate services
An understanding of mental health conditions and their impact on carers
Good organisational and IT skills, with accurate record-keeping
A commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
Access to a private vehicle for travel across Lancashire
Flexibility to occasionally work outside Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
Experience in carers support or community outreach is desirable but not essential.
Appointment is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
