Are you passionate about music, creativity, and helping people build confidence and independence? Join our team at The Spinney as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, supporting the delivery of engaging and meaningful therapeutic activities that promote recovery and wellbeing.
This is a unique and rewarding role where you will work alongside qualified Occupational Therapy staff to deliver patient-centred interventions, with a particular focus on music-based activities. From supporting aspiring singers and musicians to facilitating creative workshops such as photography and DJ sessions, you will play a key role in helping patients develop new skills, explore personal interests, and build confidence.
Music sessions are among the most valued therapeutic activities at The Spinney and form an important part of our recovery-focused approach. Through predominantly one-to-one sessions, you will support patients to develop their musical abilities, express themselves creatively, and achieve personal goals. Whether helping someone pick up a guitar for the first time or supporting them to perform with confidence, you will contribute to meaningful and lasting outcomes.
Working closely with the Occupational Therapy team, you will assist in the planning and delivery of therapeutic interventions that support patients' recovery journeys and may contribute to both initial and ongoing assessments. You will also support ward-based group sessions, helping to strengthen community engagement and social interaction across the hospital.
Beyond day-to-day therapeutic activities, you will play an important role in organising and delivering events throughout the year. From talent showcases and awards ceremonies to wider hospital events, you will help create opportunities for patients to celebrate their achievements, demonstrate newly developed skills, and build self-esteem through positive experiences.
