The Opportunity
Enjoy building relationships, spotting opportunities and getting conversations started?
We're delighted to be supporting a specialist technology and digital transformation business in Sheffield in their search for a part-time Business Development Executive.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded, personable individual who enjoys connecting with people and turning initial interest into meaningful business conversations.
Working closely with the marketing and sales teams, you'll help identify new opportunities, follow up on incoming leads, reconnect with previous clients and explore opportunities to introduce existing customers to additional services.
This isn't about hard selling or pushing a product that someone doesn't need. It's about having good conversations, understanding what businesses are looking for and recognising when there's an opportunity to help.
When a prospect is ready to take things further, you'll arrange a meeting with the sales team. Where the timing isn't quite right, you'll keep the relationship warm through thoughtful follow-up, relevant information and invitations to company events.
The role offers real variety, flexibility and the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to business growth, working within a knowledgeable and supportive team.
Initially offered on a temporary basis, the position could become permanent for the right person.
What You'll Be Doing
-
Following up on leads generated through marketing activity and website enquiries.
-
Making initial contact with prospective clients, introducing the business and exploring their requirements.
-
Qualifying opportunities and arranging meetings for the sales team where there is genuine interest.
-
Reconnecting with lapsed clients and rebuilding relationships that may lead to new business.
-
Identifying opportunities to cross-sell additional services to existing clients.
-
Maintaining a pipeline of potential opportunities, ensuring follow-ups happen at the right time.
-
Keeping in touch with prospects who aren't ready to buy, sharing relevant information and inviting them to events.
-
Recording conversations, activities and next steps accurately within the CRM system.
-
Working closely with marketing and sales colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to lead follow-up and business development.
-
Helping identify ways to improve engagement, strengthen relationships and generate new commercial opportunities.
What We're Looking For
-
Previous experience in business development, sales, lead generation, account management or a customer-facing commercial role.
-
A confident and personable communicator who enjoys talking to people and building relationships.
-
The ability to ask good questions, listen carefully and identify potential opportunities.
-
A professional, consultative approach, with the confidence to make initial contact and follow up leads.
-
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own time and priorities.
-
Persistence and initiative, without being pushy or overly sales-driven.
-
Confidence using IT systems and maintaining accurate customer records.
-
A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine interest in helping a business grow.
Experience in a technology or professional services environment would be useful, but we're particularly interested in someone with the right approach, communication skills and commercial instincts.
The Rewards & Benefits
-
Flexible part-time working, around 15–20 hours per week.
-
Negotiable working days and hours to suit the right person and the business.
-
The opportunity to make a real contribution to new business growth.
-
A varied role combining lead generation, relationship building and account development.
-
The chance to work alongside experienced marketing and sales professionals.
-
The opportunity to develop your business development skills within a specialist technology environment.
-
The potential for a permanent position for the right person.
