Business Analyst – Process Improvement & Microsoft Copilot
Location: Gloucestershire
Contract: 3–6 Months
Day Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start Date: ASAP
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to support a large public sector organisation with a programme focused on improving productivity through business process improvement and the effective use of Microsoft Copilot.
Working directly with operational teams, you'll be responsible for understanding existing processes, identifying inefficiencies and implementing practical improvements that deliver measurable time and cost savings.
This is a hands-on role combining Business Analysis, Process Improvement and Project Delivery. We're looking for someone who can go beyond gathering requirements and take ownership of delivering improvements through to implementation.
The focus is on making better use of existing Microsoft technologies rather than introducing new systems or undertaking significant software development.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with business teams to understand their day-to-day processes, challenges and workloads.
Facilitate workshops, map existing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
Assess how Microsoft Copilot and existing Microsoft 365 tools can automate tasks, reduce manual effort and improve productivity.
Identify and prioritise improvements based on feasibility, business impact and potential time savings.
Translate findings into clear requirements and practical delivery plans.
Take ownership of implementing improvements, coordinating stakeholders, activities and timelines.
Support teams with the adoption of new processes and Microsoft Copilot capabilities.
Establish baseline measures and track improvements against agreed productivity targets.
Work closely with senior stakeholders to communicate progress, challenges and measurable benefits. Essential Experience
Strong Business Analysis experience, particularly process mapping, process improvement and operational efficiency.
Practical knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and how it can be applied to improve everyday business processes.
Experience working across the Microsoft 365 technology stack.
Proven ability to take initiatives from initial discovery through to successful implementation.
Strong workshop facilitation, requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience identifying, measuring and delivering productivity improvements or cost efficiencies.
Ability to manage delivery activities alongside traditional Business Analysis responsibilities.
Comfortable working directly with operational teams and influencing changes to established working practices. Desirable Experience
Previous delivery of Microsoft Copilot adoption or AI-enabled productivity initiatives.
Experience within local government or the wider public sector.
Knowledge of Power Automate and the wider Microsoft Power Platform.
Experience supporting organisational change and user adoption.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies. Contract Details

We're particularly interested in speaking with Business Analysts who have successfully delivered process improvements using Microsoft technologies, rather than those whose experience is limited to requirements gathering and documentation.
