Electrical Estimator | Building Services | East London | £60,000–£75,000 + Car or Car Allowance + Bonus
Friendly, Supportive Team | Working Closely with Directors | £10k–£1m+ Electrical Projects | Career Development
An established Electrical & Security Building Services contractor is looking to appoint an Electrical Estimator to join its friendly and experienced Pre-Construction team in East London.
This is a smaller business where people know one another, work closely together and value the contribution each person makes. You will work alongside approachable Directors and experienced colleagues, exchanging ideas and helping shape how work is priced and secured.
The people and working environment are a real attraction. The company offers a welcoming, collaborative atmosphere where you can build strong working relationships, feel part of the team and enjoy your working day. Your experience will be recognised, your ideas will be heard and you will see the impact of your work on the business.
Alongside that environment comes a varied estimating role. The company works with longstanding clients across London and the South East, delivering electrical projects within commercial buildings, healthcare, education, universities, research facilities and public-sector environments.
Electrical project values range from approximately £10,000 to £1 million+, combining smaller works and repeat-client enquiries with more substantial fully specified and Design & Build tenders. Established term contracts provide a further source of varied opportunities.
Applications are welcomed from experienced Electrical Estimators seeking a supportive business with room to develop, as well as Senior Electrical Estimators who enjoy taking ownership and working closely with the people delivering their projects.
The Opportunity
You will manage electrical tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, supporting post-tender discussions and handing successful projects over to the delivery team.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents to establish the scope of works
-
Producing detailed electrical take-offs and accurate estimates
-
Building labour, material, plant and subcontract costs
-
Obtaining, comparing and negotiating supplier, wholesaler and subcontractor quotations
-
Preparing competitive tender submissions, including qualifications and exclusions
-
Identifying scope gaps, commercial risks and value-engineering opportunities
-
Attending site surveys, tender meetings and client discussions where required
-
Preparing clear handover information for successful projects
You will work closely with the wider Pre-Construction team, Electrical and Security Project Managers and Directors, giving you access to practical delivery knowledge throughout the tender process.
There is also scope to contribute improvements to estimating software, pricing information and internal processes. As your knowledge and contribution develop, you will have opportunities to take on broader responsibility within the estimating and Pre-Construction function.
About You
You will bring previous Electrical Building Services estimating experience and the ability to manage tenders with a good degree of independence.
We are looking for:
-
Estimating experience within an Electrical or M&E Building Services contractor
-
Confidence interpreting electrical drawings, specifications and tender documentation
-
A practical understanding of electrical installations and associated costs
-
Experience obtaining and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations
-
Sound commercial judgement and attention to detail
-
Good organisation and the ability to manage several tender deadlines
-
Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
You should be comfortable taking responsibility for your work, asking questions where needed and sharing information with colleagues.
An Electrical City & Guilds or NVQ qualification would be beneficial, alongside sound knowledge of BS7671. An 18th Edition qualification or relevant HNC would also be useful. CCTV or security systems experience is advantageous, although not essential.
What’s on Offer?
-
£60,000–£75,000 basic salary, depending on experience
-
Company car or car allowance
-
Fixed Christmas bonus, subject to company conditions
-
24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
-
JIB healthcare scheme
-
Company pension
-
Laptop, IT equipment and mobile phone
-
Training and continued professional development
-
Scope for career progression and increasing responsibility
-
A friendly, supportive team, working closely with the Directors
You will join a business offering established client relationships, varied projects and the opportunity to build a long-term career among people who value your contribution.
