About the role
Transparency Education is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with autism.
The pupil needs a high level of support, including personal care. Much of the day will involve working in a quiet space outside the classroom, helping them access learning, regulate their emotions and build confidence.
You’ll need patience, a calm approach and experience responding confidently and compassionately to dysregulated or challenging behaviour. A short-notice start may be required.
Key responsibilities
Provide tailored support with learning, communication and emotional regulation.
Follow agreed strategies to manage distress and de-escalate challenging situations.
Provide personal care sensitively, maintaining dignity and following school procedures.
Work with the class teacher and SENCO to follow support plans and share progress.
Encourage independence and celebrate achievements.
Requirements
To be eligible for this role and the stated pay, applicants must have:
Experience supporting children with autism or other additional needs.
Confidence managing dysregulated or challenging behaviour calmly.
Willingness and ability to provide personal care.
Strong communication skills and a patient, reliable approach.
Appropriate qualifications and training for the role.
Full-time availability during the stated school hours.
Pay depends on experience and qualifications. Higher rates within the advertised range are reserved for substantial experience and/or relevant training, such as a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. Pay follows school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
